Is UCI going online for winter 2022?
CARE: UCI CARE will be operating remotely and will continue to offer its services virtually through January 28th. In person support may be available on a case by case basis.
Is UCI a semester or quarter?
UC Irvine operates on the quarter system and therefore all course credits are listed in quarter units.
How many weeks is a quarter at UCI?
Many people (especially those not familiar with the UC system) are thrown off by the quarter system when they first get here! With only 10 weeks each quarter for your classes, every week counts, and its ALWAYS midterm season!

Like many American universities, UCLA and UCLA Extension operate on the quarter system, with four 12-week sessions per year—Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Study Abroad at UCLA offers UCLA Extension courses all 4 quarters and UCLA courses only in Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Is UCI remote?
The first four weeks of the winter quarter will be taught remotely from January 3 to January 28. This decision made by our chancellor is based on the best scientific evidence, which indicates that UCI will be able to return to in-person instruction on January 31.
Is UCI Fall 2021 online?

Why is UCS on quarters?
Every UC campus was on the semester system until all campuses switched to the quarter system in the late 1960s. The quarter system was meant to increase the class capacity and year-round operation of the schools.
What is a grade of W?
Students may withdraw from a course with any of the following grades: Withdraw (W), Withdraw Pass (WP), Withdraw Fail (WF). A grade of W indicates that the student withdrew from a class with no effect to the student’s GPA.
Do all UC Have quarter system?

A unique feature of the UC system is the use of quarters rather than semesters. Instead of having two semesters, the UC’s (with the exception of Cal and UC Merced) run off a 10-week quarter system. We have fall quarter, winter and spring.
How does UCI waitlist work?
The waitlist is not an actual list or ranking – it is a pool of highly qualified applicants. There is nothing further an applicant can do to increase their chances of being admitted. To be considered, applicants must accept the waitlist by submitting the Statement of Intent to Participate.

Is quarter harder than semester?
The quarter system was pretty difficult for me, but it absolutely has its advantages compared to the semester system as well. Having three separate academic terms rather than two meant that I was able to take way more classes than my semester-system peers were taking.

Is UCI open on weekends?
The UC Irvine Student Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, except on University holidays and during finals. The building is closed on University holidays. The UCI Student Center is building number 113 on the campus map and is located across from the Student Center Parking Structure (SCPS).
Does UC Irvine require Covid vaccine?
The UC Office of the President has issued its final policy regarding required COVID-19 vaccinations. This policy requires all UCI students, staff and faculty, with few exceptions, to be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 before physically accessing the university’s locations and programs.
