What insurance is UCSD?
The UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) combines primary care services offered by UCSD Student Health Services (SHS) with medical benefits for services not available at SHS. The insurance coverage is provided by Anthem Blue Cross.

Does USC accept Medi-Cal?
If you chose to enroll in Cal MediConnect, your Medicare and Medi-Cal services will be managed through one plan. While Keck Medicine of USC is currently contracted with the Care 1st and Caremore plans, this does not guarantee you will be able to keep your current USC physician.
How does Medi-Cal work with Medicare Advantage plans?
Medi-Cal closes the gaps in Medicare coverage and provides additional benefits not covered by your Medicare. You see any Medicare Part A or B provider of your choice. You enroll into a Medicare Part D plan that only provides drug coverage you pay $1-3 for each prescription per month.
Does Molina cover UCSD?

UC SHIP is recognized by the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) as Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) in compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This means UC SHIP members meet the ACA individual mandate.

You may enroll in the voluntary UC SHIP coverage for the quarter immediately following the quarter during which you were a registered student and completed your degree. Cost for 2020-2021 is: $692.00 for undergraduate students; $1285.00 for graduate students.
Is Scripps HMO or PPO?
1, 2022, pending regulatory approval. Alignment Health Plan entered the San Diego market in 2019, bringing several Medicare HMO plan options and services to the area. This new PPO plan is the only one in San Diego County with Scripps Health in network, and adds to Alignment’s current HMO provider network with Scripps.
