Can you dorm with a different gender?
Co-ed dorms (meaning the buildings, not the individual rooms) may still separate genders, often by floors or “wings.” But many colleges just mix things up, with female and male roommates living next door or across the hall from each other.
Can you choose your roomate at MSU?
A big part of the college experience is living with a roommate! All incoming Spartans will have a roommate during their first year at Michigan State. As part of the housing assignment process, students can preference to room with a fellow Spartan or be assigned a roommate at random.
What is not allowed in MSU dorms?
Use of electrical equipment (other than items listed previously), such as toasters, frying pans, George Foreman®-type grills, hot plates, waffle irons and toaster ovens is prohibited except in designated kitchen facilities. Space heaters are not permitted.

Can freshman have single dorms at MSU?
We cannot guarantee all students interested in a single will be able to select one. If you are not assigned a selection time or choose not to select during your time, you will be assigned a future window to select a double room. Single room rates vary by type.
Does MSU have single dorms?
Owen Hall is known by Spartans as the ideal spot for graduate students, professional students and undergraduate upperclassmen who desire a living environment conducive to study. All rooms in Owen Hall are single rooms.
Can freshman have a car at MSU?
Students 18 years and older, including drivers with an international license, can rent a car to use by the hour or day. Students who want to bring their own car to campus must follow these criteria: An MSU student not residing on campus property may register a vehicle as a commuter.

LGTBQIA2S+ is an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and the countless affirmative ways in which people choose to self-identify.
Why do you want to live in gender inclusive housing?
Gender-inclusive housing allows for individuals to live together regardless of biological sex. This policy has been developed to better provide a supportive environment where all residents can feel safe in their housing assignments with respect to their gender identity and gender expression.
Does University of Michigan require freshmen to live on campus?
Students are not required to live on campus — although about 97 percent of first-year students choose to live in Michigan Housing for the community, convenience and security. Living on campus is a big advantage in making the transition to university life.
Are UMD dorms coed?
We offer the ability for students who are interested to select mixed gender housing as a preference and will do our best to assign them to our mixed gendered floors throughout our traditional residence hall inventory.
Are there unisex bathrooms?
Unisex public toilets may either replace single-sex toilets or may be an addition to single-sex toilets. Unisex public toilets can be used by people of any sex or gender identity. Such toilet facilities can benefit transgender populations and people outside of the gender binary.
Are George Mason dorms coed?
Each of these buildings has two or three floors and is home to 26 to 40 residents. All halls are coed by floor or floor section. Common areas, such as lounges and laundry, are distributed throughout the community. Presidents Park and the Commons are non-smoking and alcohol-free housing areas.
What is a gender inclusive?
Using gender-inclusive language means speaking and writing in a way that does not discriminate against a particular sex, social gender or gender identity, and does not perpetuate gender stereotypes.
Do MSU dorms have heating?
Most occupants who are dressed properly for the season will be comfortable in campus spaces, as they are heated to 70 degrees. However, because spaces on campus vary greatly in age, construction and function, exceptions will occur.
