What is HAIL? Michigan Engineering offers an alumni interview program for prospective students called HAIL (Hometown Alumni Involvement Link). It is an opportunity for you to learn more about the College of Engineering and to share information about yourself, your interests, and aspirations.
What is the Hail interview?
We offer an optional alumni interview program called HAIL. If you are selected to be a part of the alumni interview program, you will receive an email after you have submitted your application. The interviews are by invitation only, and you are automatically considered for an invitation.
What is Umich hail program?
The HAIL Scholarship provides tuition assistance to students from Michigan public high schools, thereby lowering the cost of college for their families. We want students who excel academically to see themselves thriving on our campus, and to understand that there is financial support to meet their needs.
Does everyone get an interview at Umich?

The U-M Go Blue Guarantee makes an education at the University of Michigan more affordable for residents of Michigan. If you qualify, your financial aid will include scholarships and grants totaling at least the cost of tuition and mandatory university fees assessed each semester.
Does University of Michigan have merit scholarships?
The majority of our scholarships, including those for incoming students, are awarded to students based on their financial need. However, we do offer about forty merit scholarships each year, as well as a limited number of international student scholarships.

How hard is Umich?
The academics at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor are extremely challenging. Even if one pursues to take ”easy” courses, a considerable amount of hard work must be put in to obtain a satisfactory grade.

Most years we’ll admit around 20% of the students who apply. That equates to over 3000 acceptance letters, and you only need one acceptance letter.
Does getting an interview mean anything college?
To summarize, in general being offered an interview is not a good indication of the status of your application. Furthermore, interviews will only rarely be a determining factor in your admissions process.
Does being interviewed first mean anything?
No matter how many notes they take during interviews, there’s nothing like a raw first impression. Beyond the primacy bias, hiring managers may remember the first interviewee simply because they are more fresh and alert at the beginning of the hiring process.
