What is the UTMB® Index? Assessing the performance level of each trail runner, the UTMB® Index is calculated for each of the 4 UTMB® World Series race categories: 20K,50K,100k and 100M. Once a race category has been activated, all races from the past 36 months will be used to calculate your UTMB® Index.

To qualify for a place at the UTMB World Series Finals in Chamonix, runners must compete in at least one of the 30 UTMB World Series Events or one of the three UTMB World Series Majors, where they can collect Running Stones for use in the lottery or be rewarded for their performance with direct access.

How hard is it to get into UTMB?
You can’t just enter the lottery, though, as UTMB has a qualifying system. To have a chance to register for UTMB, a runner must have accumulated 10 “points” between the start of 2018 and the end of 2020. To race TDS, a runner needs eight points; for CCC, six points; and for OCC, four points.

How long does it take to run UTMB?
32 to 46 hours
In 2016 and 2017, 42% and 35% of runners did not finish the UTMB race. While the best runners complete the loop in slightly more than 20 hours, most runners take 32 to 46 hours to reach the finish line. Most runners will have to run through two nights in order to complete the race.
