Do Emory students live on campus?
First- and second-year undergraduate students are required to live on campus in residence halls. All other undergraduates (including exchange students) can choose to live either on campus or off campus.
Where do residents at Emory live?
Most of our residents live in the Decatur, Virginia-Highland and Midtown neighborhoods.
Is Emory University in a good neighborhood?

Atlanta likes to call Emory University the Harvard of the South. The university is also called “Coca Cola” University because the Woodruffs of Coca Cola have endowed the university with vast amounts of money. Emory is ranked very high nationally. It has excellent medical and law schools.

Raoul dominates the Freshman Quad and is conveniently positioned to be close to the DUC, the WoodPEC, the other dorms and Eagle Row, allowing its residents to be in the center of all events. If you live in Raoul, you most likely recognise this privelege and exhibit more res hall pride than others.
Are there single dorms are Emory?
All buildings are coed, and there are three floor configurations: single-sex floor, grouped coed floor, or mixed coed floor. Is Emory a fun school?
As a freshman, Emory provided a lot of fun events and made students feel welcome. The faculty are also all very intelligent and friendly to students, though there may be a few exceptions. The student body is also friendly as well.
Are Emory dorms carpeted?
Our residence halls feature fully-carpeted and air-conditioned rooms, floor lounges, kitchens, and coin-operated laundry facilities, as well as communal, private, and suite-style bathrooms (in which two rooms share a single bathroom).
Can you choose your roommate in Emory University?
The majority of incoming students choose to be randomly assigned a roommate based on living and housing preferences. You do not have to request a specific roommate to receive housing, our system will match you with a roommate based on your application preferences if you do not request someone.
Does Emory have suite-style dorms?
Emory maintains more than 20 residence halls. Buildings range from 80 to 350 occupants, with options for single, double, suite-style, and apartment-style rooms.
Why do colleges make you live on campus?
Some colleges argue that living on campus is critical for students, especially freshmen, because it allows them to fully participate in all of a school’s activities, social networks and academic support while fully immersing the student in the school’s culture.
Do I need a car at Emory?
A car is not necessary and is discouraged by the price of parking at Emory. In fact, Emory is very pedestrian-friendly and while a car can be convenient at times, I would say it is not a necessity for most students. Many choose to walk or bike to get to where they need to be.
